Depending on how you contact or order from us, we may collect your name, phone number, email address, pickup or delivery details, order or enquiry details, and any allergy or dietary information you choose to provide. Our website may also collect technical information such as device, browser, pages visited and referral source through security, performance and analytics tools.
Why we collect it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, assess and prepare special orders, provide customer service, operate and secure our website, understand site performance, keep appropriate business records and meet legal obligations.
Website analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use our website. It may use first-party cookies and collect information such as device and browser type, approximate location, pages viewed, referral source and interactions with buttons including Order online, Call, Directions and Special Order. We use these reports to improve the website and measure enquiries and orders.
We do not intentionally send names, phone numbers, email addresses, payment details or the contents of Special Order forms to Google Analytics. Google may process analytics information outside Australia under its own privacy terms. You can restrict or delete cookies in your browser and learn more in the Google Privacy Policy.
Direct online orders and payments
When you select Order online, you are taken to our direct Square ordering website. Square collects and processes the order, delivery and payment information needed to complete your transaction under the Square Privacy Notice. Captain Kitchen does not receive your full payment-card number through this website.
When information is shared
We may provide information to service providers only when reasonably needed to operate the website or deliver the requested service. These may include our website host, email provider, analytics provider and online-ordering provider. Direct online orders are processed through Square, and third-party delivery or mapping services have their own privacy policies. Some service providers may process or store information outside Australia.
We do not sell customer contact lists. We may disclose information if required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect customers, our business or others.
Storage and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep information only for as long as reasonably required for the purpose it was collected, normal business records, dispute handling or legal requirements, then delete or de-identify it where practicable.
Your choices and rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request correction, or make a privacy complaint by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time. You can also limit analytics cookies through your browser settings, though some essential website functions may still operate.
Special Order collection notice
When you submit the Special Order form, we collect the details you enter so we can review the request and contact you. If you do not provide a reliable contact method, we may be unable to respond or confirm the order. Please do not submit unnecessary sensitive information.
